Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib was not playing when she made her bold statement straight after being sworn into office.
“People love you and you win. And when your son looks at you and says, ‘Mama, look, you won. Bullies don’t win.’ And I said, ‘Baby, they don’t. Because we’re gonna go in there and we’re going to impeach the mother-f—-“.
To back up her statement made in early January she just released some apparel on her website which are t-shirts being sold for about $30 each. There are plenty of different styles to choose from , but the consistent theme is the phrase on the shirts, “Impeach the MF”. Tlaib is using this as a way to gain more attention to the impeachment inquiry and as a fundraiser for re-election. This is a great idea as she is KEEPING THE SAME ENERGY with what was said back when she first was elected.
Some people don’t like the language she used and thought it could’ve been said in a better way or not at all. They believe she isn’t taking the impeachment inquiry seriously, but Tlaib took to Twitter and said differently. Nancy Pelosi, House of Democrats speaker, announced the house would start the impeaching process last week and Tlaib’s shirts greatly backed their cause. Tlaib works as a representative for Michigan in the House of Democrats and broke standards in 2008 when she became the first Muslim woman to serve in the Michigan Legislature. The issues important to her are economic justice, environmental justice, equity, and fighting corporate greed.
Tlaib has had enough long before these shirts were released as she went viral from a video where the infamous phrase started. She’s a bold and strong woman who refuses to back down from those who don’t agree with her or believe in the impeachment. Many have different opinions on how they feel about Trump being removed. Some think we let him be in office way too long and it’s about time for him to go. Others think he should’ve never been elected in the first place, as do I, and it was a mistake from the very beginning. He’s abused his power to no end and we all know he doesn’t plan on stopping anytime soon whether he’s the president or not.
I guess Mike Pence, the vice president of the United States, better get ready to be sworn in, although he’s no better than our current “leader”.
